Serving on the Welcoming Ministry is both gratifying and enriching. We proudly share our knowledge about St. John the Evangelist church with our new brothers and sisters of our parish. How to Get InvolvedMinistry Coordinator: Kathy Willman |
The Welcoming Committee has the honor of introducing new parishioners
to St. John the Evangelist parish. For the past two years this has been
accomplished by having informal Sunday afternoon meetings in the school gym
where members of the various ministries of the church avail themselves
to the newcomers in order to become acquainted with them and answer questions
about ministry duties and functions. It is a wonderful opportunity to describe
our parish and to find out about our new members.
After a brief presentation, the registration process begins.
Each family has the opportunity to meet with a member of the parish staff.
A light lunch is provided to our guests, and toys and games are on hand to entertain
the younger new members during the time they are waiting to complete their
registrations. Also at that time, a family picture is taken to be added
to the parish directory. At the end of this process, each family will receive a
bag full of trinkets that have been provided by the local St. John merchants.
