Journey
If you have lost someone very dear to you through death, you are probably going through an intensely emotional and painful period in your life. Managing grief is a process that unfolds over a period of time. It cannot be reused and it cannot be ignored. While the loss of a loved one is a highly personal matter, many find comfort in discovering that there is common ground in grief and we find comfort, support and healing through sharing our pain with others. What is a bereavement support group?Journey helps those who are grieving work through their feelings of pain, confusion and rampant emotions. Led by trained professionals, the group offers the support needed to journey through the grief process. Meeting weekly, the sessions combine topics pertinent to loss with additional unstructured time to share and remember, laugh and cry. Participants are welcome to come as often or as little as needed. What can I gain by attending? At Journey, you will find a group of people who understand way you are feeling right now. Learn about the grief process, hear what others are experiencing and realize that the emotions you are feeling are to be expected. You will never forget your loved one, but you will learn to heal. Will I have to talk if I don't want to?No. Often when people first come to a support group, it takes all of their energy and courage just to walk in the door. Taking that first step can be frightening and overwhelming. Over time, we hope you will begin to feel safe and comfortable and want to share your story. Journey will always respect your choice of when and what you share. Who is invited? When does Journey meet? This St. John the Evangelist Catholic Ministry is open to all parishioners as well as non-parishioners regardless of faith or belief.
