Religious Education for Public School Program
Here are a few comments from some of the parents whose children are
enrolled in our RE Program, along with comments from a few students:
- In many programs, you barely learn the basics of the Faith. At St.
John the Evangelist, the RE Program is Christ-centered and deepens
your relationship with God, your knowledge of your Faith and
actually how to live your Faith through community service projects.
Your Faith and the Faith of your children really comes alive.
- We started here as strangers, but ended up belonging to the parish
family.
- My children have learned more in this RE Program than I learned
attending a Catholic school.
- This program really brought Jesus into our lives. I want my children
to learn and live their Faith; that is why I chose SJE.
- I like when we perform skits based on the parables.
- I like collecting Father Maletta coupons - last year I collected 100! (The Father Maletta coupons are awarded to the students during class for knowing their catechism. They are turned in twice a year for prizes at a redemption center.)
Students who attend our RE Program are given the choice of two days
on which to attend class:
- Sunday from 7:45-9:05am
- or -
- Monday from 6:00-7:30pm
Registration
RE registration takes place in March of the preceding school year. The fee
is $125 per child, which covers all books and supplies. We ask for 1/2 tuition
at the time of registration and the balance by February of the current school
year. Of course, an individual payment plan can be set up, if necessary.
We need copies of the following documents on file in our office:
- Registration-Parish/Parent Covenant
- Medical Form
- Baptismal Certificate
- Parent/Student handbook signature

Families who are transferring into our program from another parish
should register with the parish before registering for RE. Transcripts from
the previous program should be forwarded to the Office of Religious
Education/Formation.
Calendar
The RE calendar for the most part coincides with the Lake Central calendar.
Any adjustments will be published in the Sunday parish bulletin.
