Spring Fling   |   Parish Festival   |   Oktoberfest   |   Saints & Sweets All Saints Day Celebration

Spring Fling

FRIDAY, MAY 6, 2016
Radisson Star Plaza Hotel, Merrillville, IN

How to Get Involved

Planning is currently underway for Spring Fling 2016. Over 500 parishioners, school parents and community members typically attend this elegant gala, which includes a plated dinner, open bar, live entertainment, dancing, raffles and games and a live and silent auction. Invitations are mailed to all parishioners and school families in mid-March.

The money raised at Spring Fling benefits the school and reduces the amount of parish dollars needed to support its maintenance and major projects. Besides attending the event in May, there are many opportunities now for you to become involved and help make it a success.

Spring Fling sponsors and partners help underwrite the expenses for Spring Fling maximizing event profits. In exchange, sponsors receive advertising exposure before, during and after the event to more than 4,000 consumers in the parish, school and surrounding St. John community. To maximize their advertising benefits all sponsors and partners should commit by February 19th.

Many items are needed for the live and silent auctions and as prizes for the raffles and games. Specifically, Spring Fling is seeking donations of gift cards/certificates, use of condominiums/vacation homes, or items, services, and experiences that could be used to create the following packages:

  • Local date nights, girls’ night outs, and nights on the town (Babysitting donations would be great!)
  • Getaways/vacations for couples, families, and/or friends
  • Family Fun, father/son or mother/daughter experiences
  • Home maintenance, repair and/or improvement packages
  • Technology, accessories and services for “plugged in” packages
  • Bread/baked goods or dinner of the month club
  • Exciting/one of a kind experiences: anchor for the day with local news crew; walk on part in a local theatre production; rides in/on helicopters, jets, yachts or emergency/military vehicles; vet for the day; and many more.

To donate items, services or experiences, please complete the Auction Donation Form and return it to the parish or school offices or email it to sjespringfling@gmail.com

Unlike other Parish events, Spring Fling needs the bulk of its workers BEFORE the event rather than during the event. We are currently in need of volunteers willing to help plan and prepare for all aspects of the evening. Outgoing, professional individuals are needed to follow-up with businesses regarding donations and sponsorships. Help is needed coordinating the vacation raffle and preparing for the games. Individuals with desktop publishing and graphic design skills are needed to create flyers, bulletin pieces and more. Those who like to scrapbook can help out by creating artistic signage for the event. Individuals with strong organizational, writing and spreadsheet skills are needed to provide administrative support.
