Brookelyn Skrezyna, our Pastoral Associate for Service and Outreach, returned recently from 12 days in Louisiana after serving as a Missionary with Echo Community. The girl is on fire!

What is Echo Community? I’m glad you asked.

Echo Community is a Catholic non-profit organization that shares a message pivotal for our time—that authentic masculinity and femininity are cultivated through a deeper understanding of what it means to be human—what it means to have a body. This realization ultimately leads individuals to prepare for, discern, and live out their unique vocations to love! Echo Community is transforming the lives of people every single day through the lens of the Theology of the Body, as initiated by Pope St. John Paul II. His Theology of the Body teaches that the human body speaks a divine language. It reveals that we are created in the image of God, and that our bodies are meant to reflect love, dignity, and truth.

So what did she do on this Mission? Another good question.

Brookelyn gained a deep understanding of what it means to be human by serving others. She listened intently—not just with her ears, but with her heart wide open. Through the lens of Theology of the Body, she understood something sacred: that her body, your body, and mine are not just biological realities, but visible signs of God’s invisible love. Yes, these are the meaningful, eternal conversations we need to be having—especially today.

In a moment of boldness and grace, Brookelyn shared her own personal testimony. She became a witness—a living echo of the truth she received. Her words encouraged others to see their worth, to embrace healing, and to know that they are deeply loved by the Creator who formed every part of them with purpose.

With our world that confuses value with appearance or utility, this message is nothing short of revolutionary. And it begins with listening, learning, and reverencing every body as holy ground “and restoring how we Biblically view, respect, and respond to each other as sacred human beings and not at all as objects,” Brookelyn shared.

What next? Our call to Action!

Begin by reading, Theology of the Body for Beginners, by Christopher West. This book lays a great foundation, noted Brookelyn. “My soul is on fire and I’m ready to spread the good news to each of you and tell you how GOOD God designed your body and what a GIFT you are to this world just by being in it. Jesus loves you endlessly and awaits you in the Eucharist, in all the sacraments, and in each encounter with the people you see each and every day,” Brookelyn said. “Let’s Be Disciples who Make disciples! All for His Glory!”
