Imagine walking into St. John the Evangelist for the first time. You’re an atheist—but an open one. You’re curious, maybe even consider yourself spiritual at times. But hungry, possibly, for something deeper. You’ve got questions. Big ones. The kind that circle around your head late at night when everything else is quiet.
And now, for some reason you can’t explain, you’ve signed up for an 11-week Alpha program.
At first, it’s awkward. You sit stiffly in your seat, arms folded, heart guarded. The words about God’s love seem distant, maybe even irritating. But still—you keep showing up. Week after week, something begins to shift. You laugh a little more. You cry, just once, and you’re not even sure why. There's something—a quiet warmth—stirring inside you. You’re not ready to name it. But it’s there.
That stirring following Alpha? It might just mean you're ready for the Rescue Project.
The Rescue Project is a 7-week experience rooted in the Gospel, prayer, and honest conversation—surrounded, of course, by good food and good people. It includes videos led by Father John Riccardo, founder of the ACTS XXIX apostolate, a priest with a gift for speaking into the ache of modern life and pointing toward something far richer.
The Rescue Project was created for people who’ve been going to Mass their whole lives AND for people who have never heard the name of Jesus spoken with any kind of love. It’s for seekers and skeptics, for cradle Catholics, and curious wanderers.
The team behind the Rescue Project believes something bold: that the most urgent task in the Church today is to proclaim the Gospel clearly and compellingly. Not in a dry, theological way. But in a way that opens eyes. Softens hearts. Makes you see the world—and yourself—differently.
During these seven weeks, participants are invited to wrestle with four massive questions:
Who is God, really?
Why did He make the world?
What went wrong?
What has He done to fix it?
The experience aims to do three things: overwhelm the heart, inspire surrender, and ignite mission. As the weeks unfold, the story of Jesus unfolds, too—not just as a historical figure, but as the One who entered the mess of this world to rescue it. To rescue you.
Interested? Hungry for more?
Whether you're an open-minded skeptic or a lifelong Catholic ready for a spiritual reboot, The Rescue Project might just be the turning point your heart has been waiting for.
Join us beginning Tuesday, June 10th, running for seven weeks until Tuesday, July 22nd from 6:15 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Childcare is provided as well!
