Alpha is a weekly experience centered on food, engaging videos, and open conversation—but it’s so much more than a program. Each week begins with a shared meal, followed by a short, thought-provoking video exploring life’s biggest questions, like Who is Jesus? and How can I have faith? Then comes the best part: honest conversation in small groups, where you can share only if you want to. There’s no pressure, no tests, and no judgment—just authentic dialogue and genuine community.

More Than Seven Years of Alpha at St. John the Evangelist

SJE has been offering Alpha for more than seven years, and during that time we have seen lives changed, faith renewed, friendships formed, and relationships with Jesus Christ deepened. While Alpha has been running here for many seasons, each new session brings fresh energy, new faces, and new stories—and we cannot wait to see yours!

Youth Alpha gives young people from seventh grade through high school, a safe, welcoming place to explore big questions about life, meaning, happiness, and faith. Just like the adult experience, Youth Alpha begins with a meal, includes engaging videos hosted by relatable Gen Z presenters, and offers small-group discussion where teens can speak freely—or simply listen. They also play games!

Why Alpha Works—and Why People Love It

Alpha begins with food because something powerful happens when people share a meal. Conversation flows more easily, walls come down, and community begins to grow.

Each week features a high-quality video that sparks curiosity and invites honest reflection. These talks don’t lecture or pressure—they open the door to meaningful questions that matter in everyday life.

The small-group conversation is always optional. Whether you’re quiet or outspoken, introverted or candid, Alpha respects your pace and your story.
